Bachelors in psychology, sociology, social work, education or closely related major.

Must be fluent in Spanish, Russian, or Chinese, positive attitude, computer proficient, excellent interpersonal/communication skills, type at least 30wpm, ability to perform home visits in any area of NYC, great fit with Los Niños core values.

Advocating for babies and toddlers with disabilities and their families, assist parents through evaluation process and obtaining and monitoring services, referrals to needed programs, parent interviews, meetings with all relevant agencies. Learn and master the NYC Early Intervention Program Regulations and Policies. Home visiting to all communities is part of this position.

Learn about the variety of social service programs helping children and families while serving children with developmental disabilities. Develop advocacy skills to ensure children are receiving services for which they are eligible and to assist their growth and development. Help young children and their families early in life.

• Provide high quality evaluations and maintains productivity over the minimum expected. Completes evaluations that are well received by parents, professionals, and meet Early Intervention requirements.
• Attend IFSP meetings, perform parent informing as an evaluation team member, especially for cases in which the evaluator worked with a given child. Feedback about the quality of the evaluators work can be assessed through informal comments, compliment letters, testimonials, and formal parent satisfaction and other professional evaluation surveys.
• Provide quality assurance functions including evaluation review, critique and feedback.
• The evaluator will be able to cross train with other members of the department to be able to assist in the administrative aspects of the department as a whole when needed (e.g., processing evaluations and giving feedback, prioritizing work, directing support staff).
• Obtain ongoing professional development to continue to learn and grow professionally. Do this to provide the highest quality professional services and advance evaluation skills. Master practitioners are expected not only to provide excellent diagnostic services, but to teach others.
• Provide any other duties as assigned.

To provide excellence in evaluations services for babies and toddlers in the early intervention program. Excellence means highly developed diagnostic skills, warmly received by parents, excellent relationships with other professionals in all settings. The internship experience is designed to help the intern develop basic skills in social settings and through marketing. The internship is individualized to the needs of each student in conjunction with the needs of the agency at the time of the internship.
